NACARA for Salvadorans and Guatemalans
If you are from El Salvador or Guatemala, you may be able to apply for NACARA benefits. In order to be eligible, you must meet all of the requirements under one of three possible categories:
If you are Salvadoran, you may be eligible to apply for NACARA if you:
- first entered the U.S. on or before September 19, 1990;
- registered for ABC benefits on or before October 31, 1991 either by submitting an ABC registration form or by applying for TPS;
- were not apprehended at the time of entry into the U.S. after December 19, 1990; AND
- have not been convicted of an aggravated felony.
If you are Guatemalan, you may be eligible to apply for NACARA if you:
- first entered the U.S. on or before October 1, 1990 (ABC class member);
- registered for ABC benefits on or before December 31, 1991;
- were not apprehended at time of entry into the U.S. after December 19, 1990; AND
- have not been convicted of an aggravated felony.
ALSO Salvadorans and Guatemalans who have filed an application for asylum before April 1, 1990 and have not been convicted of an aggravated felony may be eligible for NACARA.
